Harvest and wines in Mures county offer heavenly tastes, delicious snacks and refreshing drinks to locals and tourists as well. Several famous wine cellars in our county produce and bottle very tasty wines, and most of them regularly organize wine tastings or other events for guests.

Winemaking has a long tradition in the region, and let’s not forget that wine has always been a popular, traditional alcoholic beverage of the Transylvanian people. A bottle of wine as a gift or placed on the table after a festive meal always crowns the evening. If you visit Maros County as a tourist in the autumn, don’t just keep the experience for yourself, and don’t forget about your family and loved ones! The best gift is a locally produced, high-quality wine made from traditional Transylvanian grape varieties, which you can drink with your family and friends when you return home.

White, red, rosé, still or sparkling wine, or cuvée, you will find everything you want in the famous wineries in Maros county. Which wines are the best? Well, it depends: if you are a fan of red wines, you have the possibility to choose from some very good bottles too, but you have to know about this region, that it is dominated mostly by white wines.

One of the most famous wineries in the county is the Liliac winery, founded by an Austrian architect, Alfred Michael Beck. “Liliac – The Wine of Transilvania” is one of the strongest brands in the sector. The winery has won numerous national and international wine competitions with its high-quality, premium bottled wines.

They produce white, red and rosé wines too, but as is typical for the region, we highlight for you some of the best white wines: the Young Liliac product line, which includes fragrant, light wines, as well as their most special wine, the Nectar of Transylvania. A gold-yellow wine that opens with very intense aromas of lychee, candied fruits, papaya and honey.

It is made with effort using the Schilfwein method. On the palate the honey and exotic flavours are dominant, with a pleasant sweet finish. This wine is recommended by the producer to be consumed with creamy or fruit desserts like fruit tarts, crêpes suzette or panna cotta.

Vinèa winery also produces mostly white wines. They work with 12 grape varieties, among them the Fetească Regală, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Rihn, Muscat Ottonel, Fetească Albă, Kerner, Gewurztraminer, Zweigelt, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Fetească Neagră.

The Sântu winery is a small manufactory, their annual production in 2019 was approximately 5 thousand bottles. They offer several types of quality wine, both white and red, white and red cuvées.

The Kulpen Winery cultivates and harvests grapes in Lechinta, which is an old viticulture center. Their wines are sold in bulk, but also in bottles. Their premium wine is called Blazon de Lechința, which is made from a mixture of Fetească Regală and Muscat Ottonel. They also produce excellent rosé wine named Kulpen Rosé.

The Petry Estate Winery is located in the old Simén mansion situated in Călimănești at the most characteristic point of the Târnava Mică river. They offer their guests wine tasting and a variety of traditional meals and modern delicacies too.
